The Bridge Fellowship is a Protestant Christian, Evangelical, Confessional, Non-denominational and Gospel-centered Church plant in Shimokitazawa. Shimokita is a sub-culture, an artistic district of Setagaya-Ku in West Tokyo, easily accessible from business centers like Shibuya and Shinjuku. Of all the 23 wards in Tokyo, Setagaya-Ku has the largest population. When young people are asked where they would like to live in Tokyo, Shimokitazawa is on the top three.
We are a church plant, a part of a wider Gospel-centered, City-Focused, Movement-Minded network in Tokyo. The Bridge Fellowship is part of a movement of churches facilitated by Redeemer City to City Asia Pacific.
We desire to see the entire neighborhood of Shimokita reached, renewed and restored by the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We envision young people marrying and building healthy families that are centered on the Gospel of grace, integrating their faith and work, their artistic gifts with their faith, doing mercy and justice for the common good of Tokyo, Japan and the World for God’s glory.
Our name, The Bridge Fellowship, has a three-fold meaning:
1. Vertically: The Bridge is all about Jesus, who laid down His life, breaking down all walls that separate sinners from God and rose bodily again from the dead—conquering Satan, sin and death—by which we are forgiven of our sins and given the free gift of God’s grace (Eph. 2: 24).
2. Horizontally: The Bridge is also about people whom Jesus loves, and whom He has commanded us to love (Luke 10: 27).
3. Fellowship with God and with one another: The Bridge is a diverse community who are growing in their fellowship with Jesus, and fellowship with one another.
“That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ” (I John 1: 3)
